1. UV Protection & Stabilization:

  • Sunscreens and Cosmetics: Benzophenone and its derivatives (like oxybenzone) are used as UV filters to absorb harmful UV rays and protect skin from sunburn and damage. 
  • Plastic Packaging: It can be added to plastic packaging as a UV blocker, preventing the degradation of the packaging material or its contents, allowing for clear or transparent packaging. 
  • Personal Care Products: Benzophenone helps protect the color and scent of products like lip balm and nail polish from degradation caused by UV light. 

2. Photo initiation:

  • UV-Curing: Benzophenone is a common photo initiator in UV-curing applications, used in inks, coatings, and varnishes.
  • Printing Industry: It's used in the printing industry to improve the rheological properties and increase the flow of inks. 

3. Fragrance and Flavor:
