Product Description:

Methyl isobutyl ketone is used as a solvent for gums, resins, paints, varnishes, lacquers, and nitrocellulose. Methyl isobutyl ketone is a ketone.   The ketones acetone and methyl ethyl ketone are used as solvents due to their low molecular weight. They are prepared by oxidation of secondary alcohols or the destructive distillation of salts of organic acids. ... The Water solubility of Ketones with higher homologs reduce with an increase in carbon atoms.

Product Application:

 4-Methyl-2-pentanone (methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK)) is an organic solvent widely used in various industrial applications. It is also used in gums, resins, paints, varnishes, lacquers, and nitrocellulose.

Product Dose:

The solvent is used often in lacquers, and certain polymers and resins. Interestingly it can be used to extract gold, silver, and other valuable metals from cyanide solutions. Also, MIBK is commonly used as a denaturant in alcohol.
