Carbohydrazide (CH6N4O) - RXSOL-42-2541-025 is an oxygen scavenger often added to boiler systems to control corrosion. It reacts with oxygen at low temperatures and pressures. It also passivates metal surfaces preventing further corrosion. The reaction products are volatile, so they do not contribute to dissolved solids in the system. Carbohydrazide is widely used to replace hydrazine as an oxygen scavenger because it is less toxic.

Being a salt of a weak acid and a strong base, sodium bisulfite forms a significantly basic aqueous solution whereas ammonium bisulfite is only slightly basic at around pH 8. CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate is very effective in high hardness, highly alkaline scaling waters. It contains a proprietary blend of organic and polymeric sequestrants, penetrants and dispersants to minimize system fouling from contaminants such as calcium, silica, iron, sludge and organics. It also contains a unique blend of organic and actives to corrosion sites. It contains special filming ingredients to establish protective barriers against corrosion on ferrous metal surfaces. Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate is environmentally safe for discharge with the cooling system bleedoff. The formulation contains no heavy metals, chromates, or other pollutants requiring removal or treatment prior to discharge at normal usage rates.
Molybdate does not provide a nutrient source as do many other corrosion inhibitors. This eliminates a food source for algae and bacteria in the water system and makes control of microorganisms easier at lower microbiocide dosage rates. The blend of cathodic and anodic inhibitors provides a durable corrosion inhibitive film for maximum system protection and minimal corrosion rates.

CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor is an easy to use corrosion inhibitor based on a novel blend of organic and inorganic corrosion inhibitors, including molybdate, intended to protect steel, copper and other nonferrous metals. CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor is low hazard, non-toxic and easy to use making it the ideal treatment for closed chilled water and LTHW and MTHW heating systems.
*Note: Whilst CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor is designed to protect systems which incorporate aluminium it should NOT be used in systems with Ideal Super Plus modular boilers where an alternative product F1-HVAC should be used, and in all applications where aluminium is present it is important to control the pH in the range of 7-8.

For systems which don’t contain aluminium CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor should be added to the system at an initial dosage rate of 5 – 10 litres / 1000 litres of system water content (increase to 10 – 15 litres / 1000 litres for systems containing aluminium). This will passivate metal and should establish the required minimum Molybdate reserve of >33mg/l. Whenever the system is drained or loses a significant quantity of water then the additional CorroSOL 50 Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor should be added at the rate of 5 – 10 litres / 1000 litres of water added (increase to 10 – 15 litres / 1000 litres for systems containing aluminium).
NB For systems containing aluminium it is important to maintain the system water pH in the range 7.0 – 8.0. Occasionally depending on the water characteristics and system treatment history the pH may rise above pH 8.0 which means that the risk of aluminium corrosion is increased – if this happens then high pH can be reduced by adding an appropriate quantity of pH Conditioner.
