Isatin derivatives also have various industrial applications for example, they are used as corrosion inhibitors, as fluorescent sensors and also in the dye industry.
Administration of the compound with a single dose of 50 and 100 mg kg−1
Isatin forms a blue dye (indophenin) if it is mixed with sulfuric acid and crude benzene. It is used as a reference material in the preparation of indigo and Maya Blue. It is also responsible for the yellow color exhibited by the "Maya Yellow" pigment.
