Choline chloride is found in many plants and animal organs, and is a basic component of lecithin. It has several uses, including: 

Feed additive: Used in livestock metabolism 

Deep eutectic solvent (DES) preparation: Choline chloride can be used to prepare DESs, which are a type of green solvent with low melting point and volatility, high thermal stability, and solubility for various substances. 

Biodegradable solvent: Eutectic mixtures of urea and choline chloride have unusual solvent properties, making them useful as a biodegradable solvent at ambient temperatures.
