Ethylcellulose is used in pharmaceutical technology as a coating agent, flavoring fixative, binder, filler, film-former, drug carrier, or stabilizer.Ethylcellulose containing 46- 48% or more of ethoxyl groups is freely soluble in ethanol, in methanol, in toluene, in chloroform, and in ethyl acetate. . A clear, stable, slightly yellow solution is formed.

Product Application:

Ethylcellulose is the most commonly used polymer for sustained release (Fig. 3.3), but is also used for moisture protection and taste masking. It is insoluble, but permeable in water and guarantees a pH independent drug release. ... With water-insoluble plasticizers, plasticization time strongly influences film formation.
