Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), commonly called polyvidone or povidone, is a water-soluble polymer made from the monomer N-vinylpyrrolidone [87,88]. Dry PVP is a light flaky hygroscopic powder and readily absorbs up to 40% of water by its weight. ... The PVP was used as a blood plasma expander for trauma victims.
