Remarks:
Hold Cleaning Preparation and Method : 
Preparing Cargo Holds for loading Grain depends on the previous cargo.
1. Cargo Holds must be thoroughly cleaned and dry and trace of previous cargo in frames,
beams, girders, and other structure.
2. There should not be any loose rust and or paint scale anywhere in the Cargo Holds,
Bulkheads, upper and lower hopper spaces, underneath of Hatch Covers and tank top.
3. There should not be traces of live & dead insect & weevils.
4. Bilge covers should be cleaned of any cargo residues and have enough drain holes. Bilge
cover needs to be grain tight but not watertight.
5. Bilge well should be cleaned of previous cargo dray and odour free.
6. Bilge suction should be operational at all the times. 
 

Removal of cargo residue:

Air Blow from top using high pressure air to reach all accessible corners. Cargo to be swept,
scrapped & collected in a drum. Attention to be given

Tank top loose rust
Tank top should be free of loose rust and cargo residue
Any rust which can be scraped by hand scrapers should be removed.
The tank top should be rinsed with fresh water
 

Cleanliness of cargo hold bilges : 

Hold bilges must be cleaned thoroughly to remove all residue, rust particles and cargo stains etc.
The filter (Rose Box) must be cleaned thoroughly
The bilge well sections shall be washed with continuous running of sea water to remove all odour and later rinsed with fresh water

This is an improved version of this method, known as the Hooker process, In the process, sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) formed when chlorine is passed into cold and dilute sodium salt solution. It is prepared with minimal separation between the anode and the cathode .The solution must be kept below 40 °C (by cooling coils) to prevent the undesired formation of sodium chlorate and to keep chlorine concentration up to 15%.

E. S. Smith patented a method of sodium hypochlorite production involving electrolysis of brine to produce sodium hydroxide and chlorine gas, which then mixed to form sodium hypochlorite. Metal Clean Bright - Helpful to remove rust from metal surface, specially from joint section. Metal clean bright chemically not only removes rust, but also neutralize rust. 

Paint Remover - Removes loose paint from hold area without manual chipping and hammering action. As manual cleaning operation kills more time as well as required extra manpower. 

Degreaser - Helpful to clean oil grease surface, without extra force. As degreaser completely emulsify oily and greasy content. Cleaning of oily area is taking more time, if proper emulsification of oil grease not done. If you have degreaser on board, simply apply and spray on contaminated area and leave for 10 minutes then finally wash hold with ALKAATUFF to get optimum result. 

SHIP  Barrier Coat - Very important parts of chemicals. Before loading of cargo, If hold block applied. Then there is no more time required for next cargo loading. RXSOL hold block is polymer based materials, which can be applied with water mixing. After application of hold block a thin transparent layer of polymer will form, which prohibiting direct contact of cargo from hold. And during next cargo loading simple water flush is required to clean complet hold.
